Meet the Thigh Liposuction Team

The Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital brings together four consultants working inside a tertiary general hospital. Tongchun Mao, MD, is responsible for the medical review of this site; the other three are named because thigh contouring genuinely involves them — complex and revision cases, the skin quality the result depends on, and the dermatological assessment of complaints that are not about fat at all.

Tongchun Mao

Tongchun Mao (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Body contouring · thigh and limb fat removal · skin laxity assessment

Dr. Tongchun Mao is an aesthetic surgeon at Chongqing West District Hospital, where he is Deputy Director and Head of Aesthetic Surgery in its Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and the responsible physician for this site. He personally performs more than 700 operations a year, within hospital standards of assessment, anaesthesia and follow-up.

On this site his judgement is the one the guides are written around. Before any volume is discussed he assesses the skin of each surface separately, because the inner and outer thigh behave differently and because the inner thigh is where most disappointing results come from. His stated position is that fat removal should be planned around what the skin will do rather than around what the measurement says, and that when the skin will not follow, saying so is the treatment. He is also the person who tells a patient that the gap they are hoping for is not something this operation produces.

Clinical focus

  • Thigh and limb fat removal, including staged contouring after weight loss
  • Skin laxity assessment before any contouring plan is set
  • Large-volume and combined-area sessions, and the limits that apply to them
  • Contour irregularity and asymmetry: prevention, and what can honestly be improved
  • Clot prevention and the hospital care that large-volume sessions require

The pinch test is the conversation

Patients arrive prepared to discuss how much fat can be removed. The more useful discussion is about the skin, because that is what decides whether the contour you are shown will be the contour you get. A surgeon who starts with the skin has started in the right place.

Shaoliang Wang

Shaoliang Wang (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Complex and revision body contouring · hospital-level surgical support

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team he provides the surgical perspective and the tertiary-hospital backstop — the assessment when an operation is the honest answer, and the hospital-level care for the rare complication that needs it.

Within this site his part of the work is the case where the first plan should not proceed: a contour problem that is really a skin problem, a previous session that left irregularity, or a patient whose health makes a large-volume operation a different decision.

Clinical focus

  • Center leadership and multidisciplinary case review
  • Surgical assessment when an operation is the honest answer to descent or excess skin
  • Hospital-based care for the rare complication that needs theatre-level management
Ke He

Ke He (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Skin quality and scar aftercare · body contouring aftercare

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director and head of skin and laser aesthetics within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team her role is the device and injectable assessment, and the honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle.

Whether skin will follow a reduced contour is partly a skin-quality question. Her part of the assessment is the texture, laxity and healing behaviour of the treated surfaces, and the aftercare that follows.

Clinical focus

  • Device and injectable assessment before any treatment plan
  • Staged planning judged against standardised photographs
  • Honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle
Yongbo Jia

Yongbo Jia (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Dermatological assessment of skin and dimpling

Dr. Yongbo Jia is a dermatologist within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team his role is medical skin assessment — diagnosing and managing pigment and barrier conditions, and treating skin that a device or an injection has irritated.

Some thigh complaints are dermatological rather than volume-related. His part is the skin diagnosis that determines whether fat removal is the right answer at all, and the management of skin a previous treatment has irritated.

Clinical focus

  • Medical skin assessment behind injectable treatment plans
  • Diagnosis and management of pigment and barrier conditions
  • Dermatologic care of skin after irritation or a delayed reaction

Will your skin follow the contour you want?

An assessment examines the skin of each surface separately, measures both legs before anything is planned, and explains what fat removal can and cannot change on your thighs. If a lift would serve you better, that is what we will advise.
