Arranging an assessment

Outpatient appointments are booked through the hospital on the numbers listed below; international patients can ask for Michael Yu. Bring photographs of how the thighs have changed over time if you have them, a note of any weight change in the last year, and clothing that lets the thighs be examined. If a previous session of fat removal was done elsewhere, bring the record of what was removed and from where.

What the consultation should establish

By the end of a good assessment you should know which surfaces are being treated and why, how much is planned, what your skin is expected to do on each surface, how the two legs compare before anything is done, what the compression routine will be, and what the surgeon would advise if you decided not to proceed. If the skin assessment has not been mentioned, ask for it.

Second opinions

Seeking a second opinion is normal and does not offend a competent surgeon. If a plan has been proposed elsewhere, bring the volume it names, the surfaces it covers and what it says about skin. A second opinion that examines your thighs is more useful than one that reads the plan, particularly where the inner thigh is involved.

Before you book anything

No decision needs to be made on the day of a first consultation. Take the plan away, read it against the guides here, and come back with questions. Pressure to decide immediately, or a discount that expires, tells you about the clinic rather than about your thighs.
